Former President Trump told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview on Sirius XM that Democrats running for senate in swing states are turning to his policies because their far-left plan has failed so badly. These Democrats voted to impeach him before.
Saturday night, Trump had a 25-minute interview with Matthew Boyle, the Washington bureau chief for Breitbart News, before he went to Pennsylvania for his rally.
Boyle said that Senate candidates in swing states have used ads to make it seem like they are friends with the former president.
“They have senators who voted to remove me from office,” Trump replied. “Of course they are Democrats, and now they are bragging about my policies. They have to because their policies were very far to the left and not good.”
Breitbart noted that Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) put out an ad saying she agrees with the 45th president on trade policy.
In a different ad, Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) says that he backed ending the North American Free Trade Agreement and shows Trump signing a bill into law. Both Baldwin and Casey decided to find Trump guilty of impeachment charges.
At the same time, Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), who is running for U.S. Senate in Michigan, is trying to get Republican people to support her. While running against Kari Lake, a Republican, Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) was one of the strongest opponents of “Trump’s dumb” border wall. Now, he says that a wall is an important part of a border security plan.
Gallego and Slotkin also voted to remove Trump from office.
Trump also told Boyle that these candidates who now say they back some of his policies never did.
“So now they’re running ads that say, ‘Like President Trump, I supported taxes and other things.’ No one has ever seen anything quite like it,’” he said.
