Bill Barr has hardly been a Trump ally ever since the 2020 Election. But he is a stalwart enforcer of law and order. And he doesn’t take kindly to recent events that have undermined our most important edict, the separation of powers.
When someone within the Supreme Court leaked an upcoming ruling on Roe v. Wade, many were outraged. Numerous Republicans called for a federal investigation, asserting that the law was broken. But what law? The former attorney general is now making clear what this person did.
And it ain’t pretty.
“They need to be able to have, you know, discourse within the court in deciding the case and make sure that it’s kept confidential until an opinion comes out. And so this was an obstruction of the judicial process. It was an interference in the due administration of justice,” Barr said. “So I think that it’s a crime that was done. It appears to have been done.” […]
“And so I think ultimately it belongs in the criminal justice side of things. And the person who did this should go to jail,” Barr added. “Now, there could be some preliminary review of this thing to see if they can figure out quickly who it is and then turn it over to the Department of Justice for prosecution.” [Source: Daily Wire]
Bill Barr is claiming that the leak of the Supreme Court draft opinion constitutes obstruction of justice. He explained that the court needs to have a certain form of discourse to decide cases. That discourse and process must remain confidential. But by leaking this document, the leaker was obstructing the judicial process. Which Barr calls an “interference in the due administration of justice.”
He believes this person should not only lose their job but go to jail.
It’s hard to argue his assertions, considering what has come after. Democrats have tried to influence the court’s decision through temper tantrums online and protests in real life. The left believes it can coerce a court—which is supposed to be free from outside forces—to change its ruling on a major case.
That lends weight to whatever trial that will be held against this leaker. Make no mistake, Biden’s FBI will do whatever it can to delay or deny investigating this crime. But justice doesn’t sleep. Sooner or later, it will come out who leaked this document. And there will be lawmakers or law enforcers who will hold them accountable.
