Trump Announces His New Plans After Arraignment

On the day of his arraignment on Tuesday in Manhattan, former President Donald Trump intends to make a public speech.

According to a statement released on Sunday by Trump’s reelection campaign, the speech will take place at 8:15 EDT at his Mar-a-Lago property in Palm Beach, Florida.

No additional information regarding the content of Trump’s remarks was quickly made public.

Nevertheless, Trump’s speech will come after he travels to New York City, where a grand jury charged him last week. Trump made history by becoming the first former president to be charged with a crime.

The accusations “revolved around,” according to Trump’s lawyer Joe Tacopina, the evidence of hush money payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election campaign, despite the fact that the indictment is still under seal, he told ABC News on Sunday.

Trump asserts that Democratic Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is conducting a “political persecution” against him and rejects all accusations of misconduct.

Trump recently commented on the matter, saying, “The Democrats have lied, cheated, and stolen in their fixation with attempting to ‘Get Trump.’ But now they have done the unimaginable – indicting a totally innocent individual in an act of obvious Election Interference.”

Inquiries into the Georgia 2020 presidential election and a federal probe into Trump’s management of papers and the circumstances surrounding January 6, 2021, both of which are being overseen by special counsel Jack Smith, could lead to charges against the president.

In addition to Trump, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy and former South Carolina governor and United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley have joined the contest for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024. The former Republican governor of Arkansas, Asa Hutchinson, declared his candidacy on Sunday. Trump should withdraw from the contest, he added.

Hutchinson stated on ABC News, “First of all, the office is far more significant than any one individual.” He needs to be able to focus on his due process because there is an assumption of innocence, and for the sake of the office of the administration, I do believe that’s too much of a sideshow and distraction.”

Former Vice President Mike Pence and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis are two other candidates who are anticipated to enter the GOP presidential primary contest. President Joe Biden has stated his intention to run for re-election but has not yet officially announced his candidacy.
