Watch out deep state!
President-elect Donald Trump has thrown a curveball into his Cabinet picks by naming Tulsi Gabbard as the next director of national intelligence. The former Democrat turned independent turned proud Republican has certainly made waves since crossing the aisle, and now she’s set to lead the U.S. intelligence community with a commitment to “Peace through Strength” and a track record that Democrats would be wise to envy.
Gabbard’s journey from Democratic Congresswoman for Hawaii to Republican intelligence chief is nothing short of epic. Not only has she served the U.S. in Congress, but as an Army Reserve lieutenant colonel who deployed to Iraq, she brings a boots-on-the-ground perspective that the Ivy League think-tankers can only dream of. And while Democrats were busy hand-wringing and backtracking, Gabbard was out there calling for real, actionable security measures and tackling issues from border control to cybersecurity.
Trump didn’t mince words about his confidence in Gabbard. “Tulsi has fought for our Country and the Freedoms of all Americans,” Trump said in his statement. “As a former Candidate for the Democrat Presidential Nomination, she has broad support in both Parties – She is now a proud Republican!” This is Trump’s way of saying that Gabbard understands the political games Democrats play, but her loyalty is to America, not a party platform.
The director of national intelligence oversees America’s entire intelligence community, a role demanding someone who won’t waver in standing up to threats. Gabbard’s blunt stance on issues like foreign interference, border control, and defense reform means she’s exactly the type of person who won’t shy away from telling it like it is. In the hands of Gabbard, we can expect an intelligence community that won’t just sit around “monitoring situations” but will take meaningful action.
In a September interview, Gabbard made it clear she’s not interested in playing the Beltway game of endless bureaucratic back-and-forth. “I feel I can make the most impact in these areas of national security and foreign policy,” she told Fox News. “And work to bring about the changes that President Trump talks about.” If Democrats are smart, they’ll take note: Gabbard’s brand of fearless patriotism and her commitment to actual results is the real deal, and it’s precisely what America’s national security needs.
Congratulations to @TulsiGabbard on her nomination as Director of National Intelligence. Her military service and dedication to our Constitutional rights make her a strong choice for this critical role. Wishing her success in leading our intelligence community. pic.twitter.com/H0b88AAEEr

With Tulsi Gabbard on board, Trump has again shown he’s serious about shaking up Washington and putting real leaders in place. While Democrats bicker, Trump’s Cabinet is already shaping up to be one that values action over empty promises. Gabbard’s new role is a reminder that a strong, fearless America isn’t a partisan issue – it’s a mandate that this administration intends to fulfill.
