An 18-year-old woman was found dead from a gunshot wound inside a seven-bedroom home at 25 Malta Street in Boston's Mattapan neighborhood on Saturday afternoon. The property is owned by Conan Harris, husband of U.S. Representative Ayanna Pressley, and was listed for sale at $1.15 million.
Boston police arrived at approximately 2 p.m. after a call to "investigate a person." Homicide investigators took over the scene.
Harris bought the two-family house in 2021 for $340,000. It's one of four Boston rental properties he owns, a portfolio that generates up to $250,000 in annual rent income, according to Townhall. He and Pressley don't live there—they reside in Hyde Park—but Harris is the landlord.
He's also a convicted drug trafficker who served nearly 10 years in federal prison before marrying a sitting member of Congress.
Boston 25 News reported that family and friends identified the victim, though her name has not been publicly released. Boston police said the "manner of death" remains under investigation—a distinction that means they haven't ruled on whether it was homicide, suicide, or something else. A dead teenager with a bullet wound, and they're still working on the "manner."
Pressley's office released a statement: "Neither Pressley nor her family were involved in the incident, and Pressley offers her deepest condolences to the impacted family."
Interestingly, police conducted a raid on the Malta Street property in May, just before it was listed for sale. No details have been released about what prompted that raid or what was found. The home was taken off the market on Saturday—the same day the body was discovered.
This is where the real story sits. A founding member of "The Squad," one of the most prominent progressive voices in Congress, has a husband with a federal drug trafficking conviction, a real estate portfolio generating a quarter-million dollars a year in rent, and now a dead teenager in one of his properties. A dead 18-year-old found from a gunshot wound in a property owned by a GOP congressman's spouse—a spouse who did nearly a decade in federal prison for drug trafficking—and CNN would have Nancy Grace locked in to do a 10 episode show on the case within the hour.
