New data shows that the number of homeless people in the United States is growing at a high rate. This is happening at the same time that President Biden is trying to get thousands of millions of dollars from American taxpayers to pay for a huge plan to build homes for illegal immigrants all over the country.

The WSJ looked at the data and reported that over 577,000 Americans are actually homeless right now. This is an 11 percent rise from the same time this past year, which is a worrisome rate of growth.

The Journal says that the rise “would be by far the largest rise recorded since the government first started keeping track of similar numbers in 2007. Its next biggest jump was a 2.7% rise in 2019 if you don’t count the overly high rise in 2018 that was triggered by the pandemic.”

Also, of the roughly 600,000 Americans who are homeless, about 150,000 are called chronically homeless due to the fact that they have been continuously living on the streets of America for a period of at least one year and many of them have mental illnesses.

At the exact same time, Biden is asking Congress to accept hundreds of millions of dollars from American taxpayers to pay for a project to build homes for people who cross the border illegally and illegal immigrants who are released into the innermost parts of the U.S.

In particular, this funding measure will enable Alejandro Mayorkas, the DHS Secretary, to use a total of over $750 million “to pay for community-oriented residential facilities.” These would function like halfway houses where border crossers along with illegal immigrants could live for free and could come and go when they pleased during certain hours.

With the money, illegal immigrants and people who cross the border without permission would also get medical care, lawyers to help them challenge their deportation proceedings, educational services, therapy, and leads to social services.

Much of the money from taxpayers would go to non-governmental groups (NGOs) on the far left that has made a lot of money in recent years from illegal immigrants through contracts with DHS.

Illegal immigrants who would be able to use the housing development are expected stay for a lengthy period of time. A recent sample of data collected by the DHS found that less than 2 in 10 people who are released into the interior of the U.S. are put into removal procedures.
