The Biden administration is struggling to justify enforcing a vaccine mandate for businesses despite lauding its effects and claiming it has no impact on the economy or job market.
If that’s the case, why wouldn’t the Biden administration go full force with execution of the mandate instead of wavering on its deadline?
Because they know every business effected by the mandate will lose hundreds, if not thousands, of employees right before they’re needed the most – during the holiday season. And they cannot handle another political setback before the ’22 midterm elections.
After pressure from business owners, the Biden administration will not require immediate action from employers once the vaccine deadline rolls around. Unvaccinated employees will now not be forced to lose their jobs on Dec. 8 if they refuse to take the shot.
The White House backtrack suggest federal contractors and private business owners employing millions of U.S. workers have significant flexibility in enforcing COVID-19 rules and will not be required to immediate lay-off workers, but will have time for education, counseling and other measures before potentially ending employment.
White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator Jeff Zients said he does not expect any disruptions to the U.S. economy or job market as a result of the mandate.
“We’re creating flexibility within the system … There is not a cliff here,” Zients said, emphasizing the goal is to get people vaccinated “not to punish them so we do not expect any disruptions.”
Let’s get this straight: Biden’s federal government has issued a vaccine mandate but will not require business owners or federal contractors to enforce it.
What a joke.
A group representing FedEx Corp, United Parcel Service Inc and other cargo carriers told the White House last week it would be virtually impossible to have 100% of their respective work forces vaccinated by Dec. 8.
Many federal contractors have told employees that they risk losing their jobs if they are not vaccinated by Dec. 8. Raytheon Technologies’ (RTX.N) Chief Executive Greg Hayes warned the U.S. aerospace and defense firm will lose ‘several thousand’ employees who refuse to take COVID-19 vaccines.
If the Biden administration proceeds, they will be responsible for gutting the U.S. transportation network of hundreds of thousands of essential jobs, which would devastate the U.S. economy and ramp up the already detrimental supply chain crisis.
