A major American city is losing its richest resident.
Owners of the largest business in the U.S. are fleeing Democrat-run enclaves like never before. A massive crime wave has plagued major cities like Chicago and New York as a result of left-wing ‘soft on crime’ policies that give criminals multiple opportunities to commit heinous crimes.
The level of depravity behind the ‘enforcement’ of these policies, knowing they make people unsafe, is a crime against humanity this country hasn’t seen in a long time. Not to mention these policies are all in the name of social justice stemming from the George Floyd debacle, which resulted in massive riots throughout the entire summer of 2020.
Now, this hedge fund billionaire is escaping arguably the best (or worst?) example of a Democrat-controlled crime-infested city that was once the pride and joy of America.
Chicago’s whacked-out Mayor Lori Lightfoot is losing her richest resident.
Ken Griffin, a hedge fund billionaire worth nearly $29 billion, announced he had moved from Democratic-led Illinois to Republican-led Florida.
Florida is also set to become the new home of Citadel Securities, a company valued at around $22 billion, according to a report.
While not stated in a letter to employees, Citadel officials reportedly said crime was a critical factor in the decision to move.
“If people aren’t safe here, they’re not going to live here,” he said in a recent interview.
“I’ve had multiple colleagues mugged at gunpoint. I’ve had a colleague stabbed on the way to work, countless issues of burglary. I mean, that’s a really difficult backdrop with which to draw talent to your city from.”
The move will have a negative impact on the financial condition of Lightfoot’s Chicago, the report noted.
Griffin was the Windy City’s richest resident and the source of millions in donations to charities.
He is but the latest example of highly-influential innovators escaping their crime-ridden home cities.
Joe Rogan, while not a billionaire but still very prominent, famously fled Los Angeles for Austin, Texas as a result of the skyrocketing taxes and the way in which officials handled the China Virus Pandemic.
Elon Musk has also spoken negatively about California before he moved his operations to the GOP-led state of Texas.
It’s happening everywhere; business owners and average Americans alike are leaving urban areas in record numbers, leaving only the most ardent supporters of left-wing policies to rot in crime-ridden cities.
