Democrats blasted Biden insiders, claiming they were giving a misleading impression of Biden’s competency, following his appalling performance in the June debate against former President Donald Trump, which sparked demands for Biden to withdraw from the race.
With asperity, Biden has answered appeals from fellow Democrats, once declaring that only the “Lord Almighty” could persuade him to drop out of the race for a second term.
According to The New York Times, he had a different response when BET News’ Ed Gordon asked whether anything would make him reconsider his choice.
“In an extract that BET posted, Biden stated that if a medical condition developed, someone, or physicians, approached me and said, ‘You have this problem and that problem,’”
“I made a huge error in the whole argument,” according to Biden.
He declared that if medical professionals changed their positive opinion of his suitability for the presidency, he would reevaluate his candidacy.
Biden noted that debate about his 2020 campaign uniting the nation and preparing future leaders ran throughout it.
“You might recall, Ed, that I declared myself to be a transitional candidate, believing that I would be able to move past this and hand it off to someone else,” stated Biden.
Is Biden going to withdraw before the election?
However, I didn’t anticipate that people would become so deeply divided. In all honesty, I believe that the sole benefit of aging is a small amount of knowledge,” he remarked.
Additionally, Biden maintained that his track record merited a second term.
“Even though they told us we couldn’t complete the task, I believe I’ve shown that I know how to get things done for the country,” he said.
He then said, “But there’s more to accomplish, and I’m not willing to give up on that.”
That’s precisely what other Democrats are pressuring the incumbent to do.
The Los Angeles Times reports that Democratic Representative Adam Schiff of California urged Biden to resign on Wednesday.
“A second Trump administration will damage the entire core of our democracy, and I have significant worries about whether the president can beat Donald Trump in November,” stated Schiff, a longtime adversary of the president.
To “protect his legacy of leadership” and “hand the torch,” Schiff urged Biden to give another Democrat a chance to unseat Trump.
According to The New York Times, Democrats who had been advocating for a virtual nomination process to validate Biden’s position on the ticket also announced on Wednesday that they would be delaying their plans for a vote by one week.
Despite the ambiguity, one group is certain of its wishes. If Democrats don’t support a new candidate, a number of significant Democratic funders will shut off the faucet.
Multimillionaire contributor Tom Strickland told The New York Times, “I’ve pushed my pals to send as well.” “If you endorse Biden, you will not have our support.” Out of here and away.
