According to a recent article from the New York Daily News, the defendant might not have been speaking the truth when he claimed to be a Muslim. The alleged perpetrator, Dmitriy Popov, 17, is a Christian who attends church, in the words of his mother “Lana.” This story’s headline has been changed to more accurately represent these opposing assertions.

Corporate media is focusing on the murder of O’Shae Sibley, a professional dancer who was 28 years old, in order to support a narrative of rising “anti-LGBTQ+ extremism” throughout the U.S. while obfuscating the reality that the alleged assassin apparently identified himself as being a Muslim.

For instance, CNN published a piece about Sibley’s death, who was not wearing a shirt and was engaging in a dance move known as “vogueing” this week when he was shot dead in a Brooklyn gas station while listening to a Beyonce song.

A group of males apparently approached Sibley and a few of his buddies and requested that they quit dancing in such a provocative way. After some reportedly anti-gay words were spoken, one of the members of the opposing group is accused of stabbing Sibley in the side of his chest and injuring his heart.

The assailant escaped after the dancer passed away at the hospital, but the New York Police subsequently said they had tracked down the perpetrator and caught him after using information provided by witnesses to identify the suspect.

The suspect, who police claimed will be the only one to be charged, is accused of committing a hate crime, but because he is just 17, his identity has been kept a secret.

All the same, points were made in ABC News’ coverage of the incident, and it was added that New York City Mayor Eric Adams remarked, “Parents lost their child, a child from something undoubtedly that was a hate crime.” The mayor suggested that “the killing happened at a time when there is increasing anti-LGBTQ+ extremism all over the U.S.”
