Democrat’s Prayer Complaint Sparks Outrage in Tennessee

Tennessee Democrat Aftyn Behn is once again showing her true colors, and they’re a far cry from the red, white, and blue. In recently resurfaced audio, Behn openly complained about prayer in the Tennessee Legislature. That’s right—this woman, who wants to represent the people of Tennessee in Congress, says she feels “uncomfortable” when lawmakers pray.

Let that sink in. A person hoping to take a seat in the U.S. Congress is offended by prayer. Not forced prayer. Not mandated church attendance. Just fellow Americans bowing their heads to ask for God’s guidance before making decisions that affect our families, our freedoms, and our future.

Behn’s comments came during a podcast interview in June 2024, where she criticized the Legislature for opening sessions with prayer and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. She even took issue with Christian pastors having what she called “proximity to power.” In other words, she’s angry that people of faith—especially Christians—still have a voice in our government.

This is the same Aftyn Behn who stormed into the governor’s office in 2019, had to be dragged out by security, and later screamed in the House chamber until officers physically removed her. The same radical activist who wants to bring a “trans bill of rights” to Congress and supports giving puberty blockers and hormone treatments to children. The same person who once said she hated Nashville and called Tennessee a “racist state” and a “God-forsaken” place.

And now she wants to represent Tennesseans in the U.S. Congress?

Let’s be clear: America was founded on the belief that our rights come from God, not government. The Declaration of Independence says it plainly—that we are “endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable Rights.” That’s not just a line in a history book. That’s the very foundation of our liberty.

When our lawmakers begin a session with prayer, they are not forcing religion on anyone. They are acknowledging that the job they’ve been given is bigger than themselves. That’s humility. That’s leadership. That’s America.

But to people like Aftyn Behn, faith is something to be silenced. She doesn’t want prayer in the halls of government. She wants drag shows in schools, abortion pills in mailboxes, and radical gender ideology pumped into every classroom. She doesn’t stand for the values that built this country. She stands against them.

In fact, she doesn’t even stand for the flag. She complains about saying the Pledge of Allegiance. She wants to remove God from the public square, but has no problem bringing in a transgender pastor to preach woke politics inside the state capitol.

And let’s not forget—this is the same woman who encouraged women to perform their own abortions at home. That’s not compassion. That’s dangerous. That’s lawless.

Tennesseans deserve better. They deserve leaders who honor God, respect the Constitution, and love this country. Not someone who mocks faith, trashes her home state, and throws tantrums when she doesn’t get her way.

The special election in Tennessee’s 7th District is more than just a local race. It’s a test of who we are as a nation. Do we still believe in traditional values, personal responsibility, and the right to worship freely? Or are we going to hand power to people who think prayer is offensive and patriotism is outdated?

Aftyn Behn has made it clear where she stands. Now it’s time for Tennesseans to make it clear where they stand—on the side of faith, freedom, and the founding principles that made America great in the first place.
