House Democrats stepped in it again, showcasing their unparalleled talent for being out of touch with reality. This time, it was their social media team over at Ways and Means Democrats, who decided to mock struggling Americans with a tone-deaf post on X, formerly Twitter. In a since-deleted post, they smugly declared, “And here we were thinking y’all couldn’t afford eggs!” while quoting journalist Paul Brandus bragging about “record air travel, holiday shopping busting records, and stock market highs.”
The *official* Democrat Ways & Means Committee 𝕏 account really posted this before it was deleted. 👇🏼
This is really what Democrat staffers on Capitol Hill think of the American majority who just rejected their policies after causing the worst inflation crisis our country has… pic.twitter.com/pbdXJqHk5B

Yes, because nothing says “economic success” quite like overpriced eggs and a public drowning in debt just to keep up with skyrocketing costs.
Predictably, conservatives pounced, exposing the cluelessness of the Democratic elite. “What an embarrassing thing to post … wow,” said Abigail Jackson, communications director for Republican Sen. Josh Hawley.

Rep. Claudia Tenney chimed in with a biting parody, writing, “Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, egg prices soared—he couldn’t afford it all!” Tenney’s humor captured what most Americans are thinking: Democrats sit atop their ivory towers while families are scraping together grocery money.
House Speaker Mike Johnson didn’t hold back either, slamming the Democrats for their insensitivity. “Americans have been struggling for FOUR YEARS to afford basic necessities and House Democrats are mocking them,” he said. “Talk about your all-time out-of-touch, disgraceful comments.” Even conservative commentators like Amanda Head weighed in, pointing out just how disconnected the Democrats are from the reality most Americans face.
Democrats deleted this tweet.

The timing of this blunder couldn’t be worse. A recent Gallup poll revealed that 52% of Americans feel they’re worse off than they were four years ago. Inflation, which Democrats have treated like a minor inconvenience, remains the number one concern for families. While unemployment numbers may look pretty on paper, the reality is that 46% of Americans describe the economy as “poor,” and a whopping 62% believe it’s getting worse.
Instead of addressing these pressing concerns, the Democrats double down on their “everything is fine” narrative while laughing at the rest of us who are paying more for eggs, gas, and everything in between. This latest stunt is just another reason voters sent Democrats packing in the last election. If the Ways and Means Democrats think mocking struggling families is a winning strategy, they’ll have plenty of time to reflect on it from the sidelines.
