New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s (D) prohibition on concealed carry was the subject of a temporary restraining order imposed by U.S. District Judge David Urias, a judge appointed by Joe Biden, this week.
Breitbart News said that Grisham’s ban went into effect on September 8, 2023, making it illegal to carry openly or secretly, even if you have a license to do so.
A temporary restraining order was given by Urias in opposition to the prohibition in a lawsuit filed by Gun Owners of America and many other plaintiffs, such as the National Association of Gun Rights, along with the New Mexico Shooting Sports Organization, as well as the Gun Owners Organization.
After a hearing when all parties would have the chance to present further arguments to the court, Urias made it clear that the temporary restraining order would remain in effect “until the time as the Court has decided on the Plaintiffs’ requests for preliminary injunction.”
The preliminary order hearing is scheduled for October 3, 2023.
“A temporary restraining order is a very rare type of injunction, and it can only be granted in constitutional rights cases when the government has done something very wrong,” said Ken Klukowski, a constitutional attorney who fights Second Amendment cases. “It says a lot that a judge picked by Joe Biden has to admit that the present gun grab is so bad that it violates the Constitution in a radical way.”
