Minnesota Governor Tim Walz finally admitted he was “surprised” that the Harris-Walz ticket got steamrolled by President-elect Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. Walz, who served as Kamala Harris’ running mate, told local media, “It felt like at the rallies, at the things I was going to, the shops I was going in, that the momentum was going our way. And it obviously wasn’t at the end of time.” Translation: Walz was caught up in his own echo chamber and couldn’t see the red wave coming.
While Walz claimed they had a “positive message,” voters clearly weren’t buying what he and Harris were selling. Trump not only crushed Harris in the Electoral College 312-226 but also won the popular vote for the first time in his political career. Swing states like Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania flipped decisively for Trump, and even Minnesota, Walz’s home turf, shifted three points toward the GOP. Ouch.
The Democrats’ excuses for their humiliating defeat are piling up faster than Hunter Biden’s legal problems. Some blame Biden for dragging his feet before endorsing Harris, while others think Harris’ tone-deaf campaign failed to connect with everyday Americans on issues like inflation, wages, and border security. Let’s not forget the ongoing disaster of the Democrats’ stance on the U.S.-Mexico border and the growing discontent over their handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict. Nihad Awad of CAIR accused the Biden-Harris administration of alienating young, Muslim, Arab, Black, and other voters by stubbornly sticking to its pro-Israel policies.
Meanwhile, insiders like Lindy Li suggested that Harris’ choice of Walz over Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro as her running mate was another unforced error. Shapiro, a moderate, could’ve balanced the ticket and sent a message that Harris wasn’t the left-wing ideologue Trump successfully painted her to be. But instead, Harris banked on Walz to secure the Midwest—and failed miserably, losing Michigan and Wisconsin while barely holding onto Minnesota.
In true Democrat fashion, Walz refused to take any accountability, saying Harris’ decision to pick him as her running mate “wasn’t my decision to make.” No kidding. And while Walz says he’ll “miss the excitement” of campaigning, maybe he should focus on helping the Democrats figure out why they keep losing to Trump.
The bottom line is clear: America is done with the left’s pandering, incompetence, and elitism. Trump’s victory is a mandate for America First policies that prioritize border security, strong leadership, and economic prosperity. Democrats can keep pointing fingers and making excuses, but as Trump Nation knows, winning is what matters—and we’re just getting started.
