Representative Jim Banks (R-IN) claimed on Wednesday that President Biden has turned down many invitations to meet and talk about the nation’s fentanyl issue.
“I requested a meeting with President Biden 155 days ago and multiple times subsequently to talk about the deadly Fentanyl problem.” Banks shared a photo from the White House showing Biden meeting with the Ted Lasso cast in the Oval Office on Monday. “All requests refused,” he tweeted.
Earlier this month, Biden drew fire for his momentary outburst while discussing a mother that lost her sons to fentanyl.
At a House hearing, the mother gave the following testimony:
According to Breitbart News, “Michigan mother Rebecca Kiessling spoke last week before the U.S. House about how the fentanyl epidemic took the lives of her two kids, Caleb and Kyler.”
“You welcome people who breach our border “seeking protection,” but you also welcome drug dealers,” she retorted.
“This was not a drug overdose, so I don’t use the term ‘drug overdose. That was a homicide. My kids were given fentanyl-laced imitation Percocet pills. There was absolutely no Percocet in it. And it’s a murder, not an overdose,” she said.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) made the observation that the mother and other American families had been let down by the Biden administration during the hearing.
In Baltimore, Maryland, at the House Democratic Caucus Issues Conference, Biden made a passing joke about Greene.
“Isn’t Greene incredible? Oof,” Biden replied while grinning.
“I should probably veer off-topic. I’ve read she recently said something quite explicit, suggesting that I was responsible for the deaths of a mother’s boys who was a poor mother who lost two children to fentanyl. The interesting thing is that the fentanyl they consumed was produced under the previous administration,” Biden said.
