In the most recent national poll of the Republican primary race by RMG Research, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has dropped to third place.

Former President Trump’s advantage in the Republican presidential primary race keeps getting bigger. In the most recent RMG Research poll, he had 60 percent support, which was 43 points more than his closest competitor. That’s up five points from last week when 55% of people said they supported him.

With 13 percent of the vote, Vivek Ramaswamy, an anti-woke entrepreneur, has replaced DeSantis as the contender in the second spot. DeSantis fell out of the top two and into third place with only eight percent of the vote. This is a big change from June when DeSantis was in the second place spot with 14 percent approval and Ramaswamy had only 3 percent support.

Early in August, DeSantis’s support went up to 15%. This means that in the past week, he has lost 7% of his support. Last week, Ramaswamy’s score went up to 10%. This means that his score has gone up by 3% in the past week and by 10% since June.

Chris Christie, the former governor of New Jersey, is only three points behind DeSantis with 5% of the vote. Former Vice President Mike Pence along with former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley each have 4% of the vote.

Tim Scott, a senator from South Carolina, was chosen by 2% of the people.

The most current study was conducted from August 11–14, 2023. The study, which had a margin of error of +/- 3.1% and was conducted before Trump’s fourth indictment, may have helped the former president’s standing even more given that similar trends have been seen in previous polls with the other three charges.

The study comes at the same time as Cygnal’s August poll, which put DeSantis in the third spot. The latest Emerson College poll also put him in third place in the state of New Hampshire.
