Once again, the mask has slipped on the radical left. In Germany, a so-called “anti-fascist” mob showed the world exactly what they really are—violent, lawless extremists. Over 25,000 far-left radicals swarmed the streets of Giessen this past weekend in a coordinated attack on freedom, order, and democracy. Their target? A peaceful conference held by Alternative for Germany (AfD), a rising populist party that’s winning hearts and minds across the country.
Let’s be clear: the AfD’s youth group, Generation Germany, was simply exercising their right to meet and speak freely. That’s a basic human right. But the far-left, the same people who scream about “tolerance” and “democracy,” decided to shut it down with fists, fireworks, and fury. Over 50 police officers were injured trying to keep the peace. One member of parliament, Julian Schmidt, was beaten by masked cowards chanting “fascists out.” This is the same tired playbook the left uses everywhere: label your opponent a Nazi, then justify violence against them. It’s sick, it’s twisted, and it’s un-American—and apparently, it’s un-German too.
The Berlin police union didn’t hold back. Deputy chairman Thorsten Schleheider called out the Antifa thugs for what they are: hypocrites. These radicals claim they’re fighting fascism, but they act exactly like the brownshirts of the past. They hate free speech. They hate open debate. And they’ll use violence to get their way. That’s not democracy—it’s mob rule.
And where is the media? Where are the political elites? Instead of condemning this lawless behavior, they’ve been pouring gasoline on the fire for years. The press in Germany, just like the mainstream media here at home, constantly smears any right-leaning party as “Nazis” or “extremists.” That kind of rhetoric is not just dishonest—it’s dangerous. It gives cover to the violent left to attack anyone who dares to think differently.
AfD leader Alice Weidel is right to sound the alarm. She warned that Germany is sliding into a left-wing dictatorship, where mobs rule the streets and the rule of law is tossed aside. That’s not just a German problem. That’s the exact same playbook the radical left is using in the United States. They try to silence conservatives on college campuses. They riot when they don’t get their way. They try to cancel anyone who won’t toe the line. It’s the same war on freedom, just with a different accent.
Thankfully, President Trump’s administration has taken action. Just two weeks ago, the White House officially labeled several Antifa cells in Europe as terrorist organizations, including Germany’s violent “hammer gang.” That’s a bold move, and it sends a clear message: the United States will not stand by while our allies are overrun by leftist terror groups masquerading as activists. If only more world leaders had the backbone to do the same.
Despite the violence and media smears, the AfD’s support is stronger than ever. A new poll shows them at a record 27 percent—more than the ruling CDU/CSU party. The people are waking up. They’re tired of lies. They’re tired of crime. And they’re tired of being told they’re the problem just for loving their country.
This is the same wave of patriotism and common sense that’s sweeping across America. We’ve seen what happens when the left takes power: open borders, rising crime, government overreach, and chaos in our streets. But the people have had enough. And now, just like in Germany, they’re pushing back.
We must stay vigilant. The far-left doesn’t believe in peace or freedom. They believe in control. And they’ll use any means necessary to get it. But as long as patriots stand strong—both in Europe and here at home—liberty will not fall. We will not be silenced. And we will never surrender to the mob.
