Ron DeSantis Support Takes A Sharp Turn

Former President Donald Trump got a surge in the surveys after a NY grand jury decided to indict him last week, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) is currently polling under 20% in a possible 2024 Republican primary race.

Trump got 48 percent approval in the most recent Reuters poll, up from 44 percent in the previous month’s poll. DeSantis, on the other hand, saw his support drop from 30% in March to 19% after Trump’s arrest.

From March 31 to April 3, Reuters polled 706 U.S. adults, only days after a NY grand jury decided to charge the former president. The case against Trump is being prosecuted by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, and it revolves around his alleged part in paying porn star Stormy Daniels $130,000 in secret money.

Trump is scheduled to appear in Manhattan Court on Tuesday for his arraignment, where he is anticipated to submit a “not guilty” plea.

Despite the fact that DeSantis has not yet declared a presidential run, he has regularly placed second to Trump.

The majority of respondents think Trump’s accusations are “politically motivated.”

The credibility range for the poll is 2.7 percent.

The Reuters poll came just days after a Yahoo News poll showed Trump with a 26-point advantage over DeSantis the day after his indictment.
