Ron Paul Goes To War Against Big Tech

Ron Paul Goes To War Against Big Tech
Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey has recently clashed with Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla. Markey threatened Musk that if he does not “repair your companies, Congress will.”

Former Texas Congressman Ron Paul was disturbed by Markey’s threat. Markey’s warnings “referred to a continuing National Highway Traffic Safety Admin. (NHTSA) inquiry into Tesla’s autopilot driving technology as well as Twitter’s 2011 consent decree with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC),” Paul wrote in a recent post titled “Separate Tech and State.”

In addition to threatening Musk and his businesses, Markey joined five other Democratic senators in requesting an investigation into Musk’s behavior as the new owner of Twitter. The Senators want to know if Musk violated the consent decree or consumer protection laws through this probe.

Because “FTC Chair Lina Khan desires to investigate as many corporations as possible,” Paul believes the senators’ letter will be met with favor.

President Joe Biden has endorsed the idea of looking into the role foreign investors played in Musk’s purchase of Twitter.

Paul, as a seasoned political actor, understands what may be at stake here. A Musk-led Twitter, for example, would almost certainly disclose some of Hunter Biden’s shady business dealings.

“Biden may be concerned that Musk is unlikely to prohibit tweets about Hunter Biden’s business dealings.”

“Concerns that Musk may allow tweets containing material damaging (or worse) to the Biden administration highlight the true reason why many Democratic lawmakers, progressive journalists, and activists are targeting Musk. They back efforts to silence conservative, libertarian, and other “unwoke” discourse on social media. They see a major platform that refuses to muzzle anyone who disagree with the awakened mob or the Democratic Party elite as a threat to their authority.”

Musk’s decision to restore Donald Trump’s previously blocked Twitter account has clearly enraged the powers that be. However, Paul pointed out that the threat to liberty does not come solely from Big Tech. “It is from the combination between big Tech and big government,” he believes.
