Supreme Court to Rule on Major Case Regarding Elections

Supreme Court to Rule on Major Case Regarding Elections

Americans are waiting for the Supreme Court to issue a ruling on a critical case concerning abortion. But the court has been slow-walking the verdict, something that is only encouraging more protests and conflict.

But that is only one of numerous cases that could have monumental effects on the country. Because it appears the court is about to decide just how courts can rule during elections.

The Supreme Court appears poised to take on the issue of how much courts can interfere with the Constitutional rights [of] state legislatures to set the rules of election, a case that could dramatically reshape battles over redistricting and ballot access…

The Associated Press reports that four of the high court’s conservative-leaning justices have expressed interest in deciding whether state courts should have the power to change federal election laws…

In March, Justice Brett Kavanaugh wrote that the issue will “keep arising until the Court definitely resolves it.”

It’s possible the court will hear a case that addresses how state courts can rule in election issues. North Carolina Republicans have issued an appeal over a court’s decision to throw out a congressional district map decided by the state’s legislature.

The left-leaning court threw out a map that it probably assumed would benefit GOP candidates. As we’ve seen in other states, liberal judges are trying to interfere with the 2022 midterms, by rejecting maps that would help GOP candidates.

If the Supreme Court takes up the case, it will have very little time to make a ruling, given the deadline for district maps.

But a decision could impact any election cases brought to a court. How the Supreme Court rules could either give more power to elected officials or judges.

In many states, activist judges have abused their power to sway elections. Sometimes, they even throw out hundreds of thousands of ballots.

It is likely that if the court does take up the issue, they would rule in favor of state Republicans. This would prevent courts from interfering with the process, allowing elected officials to do what voters want them to do.

Naturally, Democrats don’t want this to happen. It will take four justices to decide if this case is taken up by the court. You can count on the three liberal justices to say know and Chief Justice Robert, who often sides with the left.
