Trump 2024 Gains Steam, New Shocking Numbers Are In

In South Carolina, which is the second GOP primary state in the country, more than four out of ten potential voters support former President Trump as their party’s nomination for 2024, while three other contenders receive double-digit support, per a survey.

According to the National Public Affairs survey, which was issued this week, 41% of the 809 participants support Trump to win the GOP nomination. With two opponents within striking distance, Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL), his closest rival, is sitting 23 points behind him at 18 percent.

For comparison, the pollster’s May survey had Trump at 38% and DeSantis at 23%, an eight-point shift in Trump’s favor from the previous month. Additionally, that survey was done before DeSantis’ campaign began.

Former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley (R-SC), who served in that position from 2011 to 2017, is in third place with 12% of the vote, followed by Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), a fellow South Carolinian, with 10%. Chris Christie (R-NJ) is supported by another 5% of voters, while Mike Pence (R-IN), Vivek Ramaswamy (IN), along with Asa Hutchinson (R-AR) are tied for second place with 2% each. Governor Doug Burgum (R-ND) receives 1% of the vote, while 6% are unsure.

Notably, the survey was done before former Representative Will Hurd (R-TX) entered the race this week and doesn’t include announced candidates radio presenter Larry Elder, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, or entrepreneur Perry Johnson.

With 28 percent of the vote, Trump also has a double-digit advantage over the competition among independents. With 16 percent, Haley is in second place, ahead of DeSantis with (13 percent), Scott with (12 percent), and Christie with (11 percent).

With barely 32.5 percent of the vote, Trump defeated Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Marco Rubio (R-FL), who received 22.5 percent and 22.3 percent of the vote, respectively, to win the state’s delegates in 2016.

According to the polling data, Trump now has significant leads in the two counties that Rubio won in 2016—Charleston and Richmond. Trump also enjoys a 26 percent advantage in Greenville County, where he defeated Cruz by only 2 percent seven years ago.

The report claims that “if Trump wins these Rubio counties in 2024, the campaign is done.”

Between June 20 and 21, National Public Affairs polled 809 probable GOP primary voters. There wasn’t a margin of error mentioned.
