Perhaps one of the states that fared the best during the pandemic was one that refused to cower to the government’s tyranny.
Florida was slow to implement a lockdown order last year. And they were the first to lift all state-mandated rules, including masks and social distancing. This, despite the fact their population is comparable to major blue states—and it is a tourist destination.
The media blasted Florida’s Republican governor, claiming he was going to “kill” people. Yet—big surprise—the state handled the pandemic much better than New York or California. Rates and deaths were very different from states with abusive rules.
Now that the CDC is flip-flopping on its own rules, the governor is firing back. He is blasting the latest mandates from D.C., claiming they have left science for good.
“It isn’t based in science. There is no indication that areas with mask mandates have performed any better than areas without mask mandates,” DeSantis’s office told Breitbart News…
“In fact, this policy could actually backfire. Mandating masks for vaccinated people erodes public trust and confidence in the effectiveness of the vaccines. To me it appears that the government wants to be perceived as doing something during a seasonal infection surge, even if their policy does not necessarily make people safer…”
“Masking children can cause serious physical, developmental, and emotional issues… There is no medical reason to mandate masks on children. In Florida, it will be the parent’s choice.” [Source: Breitbart]
Not only is the governor blasting the CDC for changing its rules, but he also will not mandate masks for children or residents.
The governor exposed the weak position of the federal government on this new mask rule. If the vaccines were so great, why are they now demanding vaccinated people wear masks again? I thought the point of vaccines were so that we could go back to normal, protected from the disease?
We all know that to be the truth. This new CDC rule is simply motivated to protect Joe Biden and his failures to handle the pandemic.
It is very likely Republican-led states will follow DeSantis’s lead and not mandate masks. The real question is whether businesses, schools, and other groups go back on their word and mandate masks themselves.
Americans had to live for over a year and a half in a Twilight Zone, where they couldn’t see their families, conduct normal business, or even leave their houses. Are they expected to go back to that world, after they complied and got the vaccine?
To demand vaccinated Americans to wear masks again is a slap in the face. It is not based in any science or evidence. It is just another example of how Biden’s government is directionless, clueless, and pathetic.
Don’t be surprised to hear more backlash from America’s governors.
