GOP Leaders Remove A State Senator For Taking Trump’s Side

GOP Leaders Remove A State Senator For Taking Trump’s Side

State Senator Colton Moore took the first step toward defunding, looking into, and maybe impeaching Fulton County DA Fani Willis, who filed 13 charges against former President Trump. This week, the Georgia Senate Republican caucus decided to expel Moore from the caucus.

Through a letter to Governor Brian Kemp (R), Moore declared in August that he wanted to hold an emergency session to look into Willis’s acts in more detail. In Georgia, there are two ways for an emergency congressional special session to happen: either the governor calls one, or three-fifths of both houses of the legislature sign a letter asking for one.

Kemp and other Republicans in the State Senate didn’t want to work to investigate, punish, and remove Willis, so they got rid of Moore instead. “The reason for Colton’s removal today was that he asked his Republican peers in the Senate to do their jobs and agree to an emergency session to look into Fani Willis.” Colton said this in a statement that Breitbart News obtained:

“The Georgia Constitution makes it clear that the lawmakers can call an emergency session to look into a judge. Even though I asked my Republican Senate coworkers to join me, they acted like kids and kicked me out of the party.”

“I stand by what Republicans believe in. The Republican platform is what I stand for. I am going to keep being a Republican Senator in the amazing state of Georgia. It’s too bad that I have to call my friends, who campaigned on being ‘Trump conservatives,’ the RINO caucus.”

“Everyone in Georgia is behind me 100 percent. I will keep fighting hard to protect the rule of law as well as do what I believe to be right. This will be the fight of our lives.”

A new Rasmussen poll reveals that 82% of Republicans in Georgia think Willis is prosecuting Trump unfairly. Also, 77% of Republicans claim they are not happy with the way tax dollars have been used to bring charges against Trump. Another 74% of Republicans want the Georgia lawmakers to hold a special session in order to prevent Willis from bringing charges against Trump.

Even though Moore’s plan had workable parts and was supported by polls, Kemp and many other state Republicans quickly threw it out. “Let me be clear: If people think their local prosecutors are breaking their oath by participating in unethical or unlawful activity, there is a law within the state of Georgia which clearly states the legal procedures that may be taken,” Kemp stated in August. “So far, I haven’t seen any proof that DA Willis’ actions taken, or lack of actions, require the Prosecuting Attorney Accountability Commission to take action.”

A lot of conservative Republicans, including Trump, applauded Moore for “doing something” to stop what they call “the weaponization of the judicial system.” In a video, Trump stated, “Everyone should thank and congratulate a very respected Georgia State Senator named Moore for having the strength of conviction and courage to stand up to the crazy radical left.”

“With almost no punishment for those killings. Shockingly falsely accused your favorite president of making a perfect phone call.” He also said, “She is very bad for America. I feel bad for Georgia because of her.”
