Hamas Declares ‘Death Sentence’ On Final Hostages

A senior Hamas official warned that Israel’s decision to resume military operations in Gaza after ceasefire talks stalled amounts to a “death sentence” for the remaining hostages, according to the Associated Press. Among those still held captive is Edan Alexander, an American-Israeli who was raised in New Jersey.

The Hostages and Missing Families Forum, a group advocating for those abducted, expressed outrage over Israel’s decision, claiming that renewed military action could endanger hostages and complicate efforts to secure their release. Currently, Israel believes only 24 of the 59 remaining hostages are still alive.

The ceasefire, which lasted nearly two months, initially led to the release of several hostages. However, negotiations over the second phase, which would have meant an end to the war and additional releases, fell apart, prompting Israel to resume strikes on Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad targets. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed extensive airstrikes on Hamas infrastructure, including weapons stockpiles and rocket launch sites.

As usual, Hamas-run health officials claim hundreds of civilian casualties, but these numbers remain unverified. Hamas, an internationally recognized terrorist organization, has a long history of inflating casualty figures to manipulate global opinion. Despite the usual hand-wringing from the United Nations, Israel remains committed to its objective: eradicating Hamas and ensuring the safety of its people.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made it clear that the war effort is far from over. “Israel will, from now on, act against Hamas with increasing military strength,” his office announced on X. As IDF forces prepare for potential ground operations, Israel issued evacuation orders for eastern Gaza, signaling an intensified phase in the conflict.

While global leaders, including the United Nations, are calling for restraint, Israel’s stance remains firm. Israeli U.N. Ambassador Danny Danon reaffirmed the country’s mission: “Nothing will stop us from fighting to free our hostages who have been held in brutal Hamas captivity for 527 days.”

Israel isn’t backing down, nor should it. For months, Hamas has stalled negotiations, using hostages as human shields while continuing its campaign of terror. While the usual international voices decry Israel’s actions, the reality is simple—no country would tolerate its citizens being kidnapped and held for over a year by a terrorist organization. If Hamas truly cared about the lives of the remaining hostages, they would surrender and end the conflict. Instead, they continue to prioritize their own power and propaganda machine.

Hamas started this war on October 7, and Israel is making sure it ends on its own terms. For those still wringing their hands over Israel’s response, they should ask themselves one question: what would they do if it were their loved ones being held in Hamas’ tunnels?
