This week, Hunter Biden entered a not-guilty plea to charges involving guns and taxes, rejecting the prosecutors’ proposed revised plea arrangement.
After the court questioned whether it included prospective charges arising out of the continuing Justice Department investigation, the first plea agreement collapsed. According to the prosecution, there were no suspected Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) breaches in the arrangement.
According to MSNBC, the court took a ten-minute break to see if the two sides could rapidly reach a deal. When the deal resumed, sources stated that it would “be more restricted in scope,” only covering certain allegations of tax and gun-related wrongdoing. According to CNN, “the two sides have agreed that this agreement doesn’t protect him from future possible charges.”
However, as noted by reporters inside the courthouse, the judge stated she wasn’t ready to agree to the plea agreement and required both Hunter Biden and the prosecution to file further documents. Future court appearances by the parties are required.

According to Senator Josh Hawley, the high court drama demonstrates that the plea “sweetheart” arrangement was insufficient and that more charges may be brought:
“It’s extremely telling that the judge stepped in and effectively said, ‘No, I am not going to allow some sweeping blanket agreement.’ That implies that the court is very concerned about both the other possible charges in this case as well as the deal’s egregious scope.”
“This, in my opinion, indicates that they still have a strong case for prosecution moving forward,” he continued.
In July, US attorney general David Weiss said that the FBI informant form claiming bribery to the Biden family was a component of an ongoing investigation.
Hunter Biden’s lawyer Chris Clark seemed to have a different perspective on the state of the case this past month. He said that because of the plea agreement, no more charges could be filed in the future.

As Breitbart News revealed, Hunter Biden received a $1 million legal retainer and $3.8 million in consultancy payments from CEFC China Energy Co., a business connected to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Hunter Biden informed Tony Bobulinski, a whistleblower, just over two months later stating that he didn’t want to be registered as a foreign agent on the behalf of the CEFC.
Hunter Biden also received $83,000 every month from his position on the board of directors of Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian oil business. According to a National Archives email, Hunter Biden may have participated in a phone discussion between then-Vice President Biden and former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko around that time.
A prosecutor who was looking into Burisma was dismissed by Poroshenko, and Joe Biden afterward boasted about the action.
