Given the significance of maintaining a united front against China, the committee’s chairman, Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI), has attempted to keep the committee devoid of partisanship.

In an interview with the Washington Post on Sunday, Gallagher stated, “Our objective is to walk away from this with a clearer awareness of why the CCP is a concern and why someone who lives in Northeast Wisconsin or other regions across the nation should worry about that threat.”

Two former officials from the Trump administration, a Chinese human rights activist , and the president of the Alliance for American Manufacturing will all be present at the first hearing.

Matthew Pottinger, a former member of the National Security Council who oversaw Asia strategy, and Ret. Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, a former national security adviser, are the two former members of the Trump administration.
