As the illegal immigration crisis at the southern border is showing no sign of abating, Senator Cruz (R-TX) is calling for Alejandro Mayorkas, the secretary of the Dept. of Homeland Security, to be promptly fired.
Cruz’s comments follow 251,487 interactions with illegal aliens by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) last month, the most ever registered in American history.
According to data from last month along with the first two months of the fiscal year 2023, Oct. and Nov., the United States is on course to confront over 2.87 million illegal aliens at the southern border in 2019.
According to December’s figures, the Biden admin. has now gone ten months in a row with at least 200,000 interactions with illegal aliens at the southern border.
On the most recent edition of “The Verdict” with co-host Ben Ferguson, Cruz was questioned about Mayorkas.
“Because he was aware of what was going on at the border the whole time and misled the public by asserting that it was secure when he knew it wasn’t,” Ferguson stated that “many people thought there was a fair chance he might be investigated or possibly impeached. Do you anticipate any movement in this year’s early months, at least on the House side?”
Cruz said, “I think the answer is yes. The House of Representatives will, in my opinion, remove Alejandro Mayorkas from office. They’ll probably do it this year, most likely in the first half. If they don’t proceed, I will be stunned. I believe that to be quite probable and significant. Never before has a cabinet secretary so blatantly refused to carry out his duties and in fact given orders to his staff to willfully flout and subvert federal law.”
Cruz stated that “deporting those who are in the country unlawfully is required by federal immigration law. Instead, Mayorkas instructed Homeland Security to speed up and promote criminal activity. He desires a faster rotation of the turnstile. His only goal is to increase the number of illegal immigrants who enter the country. Not to stop them. Not to deport them. It is not to keep the border secure. Joe Biden’s travel agent will take you wherever you want to go and set you up if you cross illegally, he wants to make it even more efficient.”
Mayorkas, according to Cruz, was the first cabinet official in a U.S. admin. to spend their “full time abdicating his entire statutory job.”
“Even worse, it would be dreadful if he just quit and didn’t perform his job. But he’s becoming worse; he’s telling everyone under his command to deliberately encourage breaching the law,” Cruz added. “And I think the House will try to remove him from office, and Chuck Schumer will do everything in his power to make sure no one notices in the Senate. The catastrophe that is occurring daily on the southern border, which the media overlooks, and which the Democrats are to blame for, has to be brought to the attention of the American people.”
