Despite February being a shorter month than usual, President Joe Biden managed to raise $53 million. This continues his remarkable fundraising record.
The combined fundraising committees and presidential reelection campaign for 2024 had $155 million in the bank at the conclusion of the month. Officials from Joe Biden’s campaign claim that February was the president’s “strongest grassroots fundraising month since launch,” following a $42 million haul in January and the fourth month in a row of greater donations.
“Our record-breaking fundraising engine is going toward informing voters of the importance of this election, increasing our presence in the states, funding paid media, and sending our principals on a barnstorm around the nation. We couldn’t be prouder of it. Additionally, Biden-Harris 2024 Campaign Manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez stated that we are only at the beginning. The data and operations of the Republican National Committee and Donald Trump paint a different picture – one of discord, incompetence, and a basic failure to form a coalition capable of securing 270 electoral votes. Our record fundraising effort is making sure that every voter is aware of how seriously this election takes the future of our nation.”
“In contrast to Joe Biden and the Democrats’ record-breaking grassroots fundraising, Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee are in a state of financial chaos. It’s not surprising that contributors who recall the absolute anarchy of Trump’s first term are not buying into their plan to dismantle Medicare and Social Security, strip us of our basic rights, and defund our health care,” DNC Chair Jaime Harrison said. “Our grassroots supporters are pitching in like our democracy is on the line — because it is. This year’s stakes are bigger than ever before.”
Compared to his rival from the 2016 presidential election, former president Donald Trump, the president still has a substantial financial edge.
Despite keeping up impressive personal fundraising totals, the former president has spent the vast majority of his fortune on expensive legal representation for the over 90 federal indictments against him. Just over $30 million was in Trump’s cash on hand at the end of January.
The controversy about Biden’s age and overall presidential fitness has reached a fever pitch, coinciding with the release of his February data. The White House and Biden’s campaign strongly disagreed with special counsel Robert Hur’s assessment from February, which stated that the president displayed a visibly failing memory, even though Biden was not prosecuted as a result of the inquiry into his handling of sensitive materials.
