According to a Rasmussen Reports study released this week, a majority of Democrats believe Hunter Biden’s alleged “preferential handling” in his tax case with the Department of Justice is a significant issue.
An IRS official said last week that a tax investigation against the president’s son had been improperly politicized. According to the whistleblower, two Biden-appointed officials inside the DOJ are seeking to prevent Hunter from being charged with tax evasion despite recommendations.
Furthermore, the whistleblower said that the US prosecutor appointed to the case sought to be identified as a special counsel in the investigation in order to establish some distance between the investigation and President Joe Biden. That request was reportedly denied by Joe Biden’s attorney general.
According to the study, 69 percent of all likely voters believe it is a significant scandal, with 48 percent believing it is extremely serious.
While the majority believe that it’s a severe issue, 28% believe the claimed “preferential treatment” is not really a big scandal, with 13% believing it is in no way serious.
Rasmussen said that the claims are taken seriously by the majority of all political parties.
“Majorities in every political party – 82 percent of Republicans, 53 percent of Democrats, and 71 percent of unaffiliated voters – believe the claim of preferential treatment in the Hunter Biden IRS inquiry is at least a minor scandal. Moreover, two-thirds (68 percent) of Republicans and almost forty-six percent of unaffiliated people, as well as 30% of Democrats, consider the scandal to be Very Serious.”
The gravity of the alleged misconduct does not indicate that President Joe Biden is going to be impeached.
“It’s at least somewhat probable that the Hunter Biden probe will lead Congress to impeach President Biden,” think 44% of Democrats, 43% of Republicans, and 30% of unaffiliated people.”
The poll polled 909 probable voters between April 20 and 24, having a three-point margin of error.
