MSNBC’s Jen Psaki had to concede an inconvenient truth on Sunday: the Democratic Party is adrift. Following Vice President Kamala Harris’ decisive loss to President-elect Donald Trump, Psaki admitted on Meet the Press that Democrats are “in the wilderness” with no “clear leader” to rally the troops. Of course, the left-wing media spent the last four years pretending Harris was the second coming of Obama while ignoring her record-breaking levels of unpopularity. But here we are.
The Democrats’ struggles have only deepened after Harris managed to lose both the Electoral College and the popular vote—a political feat few thought possible. But if anyone could manage it, it’s the woman who spent more time cackling her way through softball interviews than connecting with voters. Even Psaki couldn’t sugarcoat it: “Joe Biden is going to be out of office shortly. Kamala Harris just lost the election. There is no clear leader of the party right now.” Translation: Democrats are leaderless, rudderless, and clueless. But hey, they’ve got a lot of TikTok influencers.
Psaki tried to spin this as an “opportunity,” suggesting that Democrats need to figure out who’s going to “stand up against Trump” and “bring the country together.” Nice idea, but good luck finding that person in a party obsessed with identity politics and radical agendas that alienate everyday Americans. The problem isn’t just Harris; it’s the entire Democratic brand, which has become synonymous with lecturing voters about their supposed moral failings while ignoring real issues like inflation, crime, and border security.
Meanwhile, Trump is out here racking up wins with groups Democrats have long taken for granted. According to Reuters, Trump made a 14-point gain among Hispanic voters nationally and a 7-point increase with voters aged 18 to 29. Democrats’ condescension toward these groups is finally catching up with them. It turns out that people don’t like being told they’re victims of “the system” when they’re trying to get ahead in life.
Some Democrats are scratching their heads, wondering why millions of Americans “didn’t buy” Harris’ pitch. Here’s a thought: Maybe Americans are sick of empty platitudes and policies that fail them. Maybe they see through the media spin and recognize that Trump’s America First agenda delivers results, not just rhetoric.
Democrats are now scrambling to figure out what went wrong. But the truth is, they’ve spent so much time demonizing Trump and his supporters that they forgot how to connect with the very people they claim to represent. And as the exit polls show, voters are waking up to the Democrats’ con game. The party of “hope and change” has become the party of “blame and shame”—and the American people are rejecting it.
